The Gauntlet at Sydney Opera House
Immersive choral work, The Gauntlet, composed by Sxip Shirey with choreography by Coco Karol has been commissioned by the Sydney Opera House for a premiere in September 2018 for the Antidote festival.
"I will be doing "Movement Interviews" with individuals in the local community about immigration, social justice, belonging, and ownership under the poetic umbrella "The Long Walk"--I have been amazed to find out the first nation Gadigal people originally considered the land the opera house is on to be sacred because the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks created a musical tone much like the one Sxip uses to start The Gauntlet!" -- Coco Karol
